US: Urgent need for Karabakh resolution
Top US diplomat at the OSCE this week called for an "urgent solution" for the conflicts in Caucasus which have course large populations of IDPs in Georgia and Azerbaijan.
"Their [the IDPs'] struggle to rebuild secure and productive lives demonstrates the urgent need to resolve these conflicts," US ambassador to OSCE Daniel Baer stated, as TURAN's Washington correspondent was informed.
In his response to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ambassador Baer mentioned that whether they are refugees in a foreign land, migrants, or internally displaced people within their own country, persons uprooted from their homes "deserve to be treated with respect and humanity. "
To that end, Washington encourages all participating states to facilitate the safe and voluntary return of displaced persons, to find durable solutions for such persons, and to treat all persons with respect and in accordance with relevant obligations under international law.-0-
