U.S. will promote steps to increase energy supplies to Europe
Baku/09.06.22/Turan: Expanding energy supplies to Europe from Azerbaijan and the region was in the focus of a recent Caspian Oil and Gas conference in Baku. The U.S. will provide all possible assistance to this end in order to reduce Europe's dependence on the Russian gas. This was announced at a briefing on Thursday by U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Lizenberger.
One of the additional options for this could be the Trans-Caspian pipeline, "which we are watching very closely and which will be very important," the diplomat said.
He said many companies are in ongoing discussions with the region's governments over technical and political issues of the project. "The U.S., for its part, is ready to support efforts to double the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor," Liezenberger stressed. -0-
