Year 2019 Lost for Karabakh Settlement - Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 24.12.19 / Turan: 2019 was a year of losses for the Karabakh settlement, President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with local television channels.
“The Armenian authorities are in a destructive position and no serious progress was achieved during the negotiations. The contradictory and mutually exclusive statements of the Armenian leadership cause only disappointment,” he noted.
The new leadership of Armenia initially demanded that Azerbaijan negotiate not with Yerevan, but with the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, which was categorically refused. This was supported by the Minsk Group and negotiations continued between Baku and Yerevan, as before.
After that, the Prime Minister of Armenia put forward a new thesis - “Karabakh is Armenia, and that is all,” which was also rejected by international mediators, not to mention Azerbaijan.
"Our principled position is unchanged - the issue should be resolved within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which is recognized and supported by the international community," Aliyev said. -02D-
