Yerevan opposes the idea of establishing a checkpoint in Lachin
Baku/22.02.23/Turan: Armenia is ready to open communications, but they must operate within the framework of the country's legislation, stated on Wednesday Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, commenting on the Azerbaijani President's statement on the establishment of a checkpoint in Lachin and at both ends of the Zangezur corridor. "Our answer is unequivocal and we announced this immediately after the Lachin corridor was closed. The functioning of the Lachin corridor is stipulated in a tripartite document signed, among other things, by the President of Azerbaijan.
New negotiations on the Lachin corridor with the use of force and the threat of its use are unacceptable for us," Mirzoyan said.
At the same time, Mirzoyan continued that "Armenia can unblock roads at any time, as soon as it is agreed that all roads will function within the framework of the sovereignty and legislation of the countries through which they pass," Mirzoyan noted.
However, he did not explain why the laws of Azerbaijan should not apply in the Lachin corridor, although this is its sovereign territory? ---02D---
