Baku/13.02.23/Turan: Armenia is working on the text of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and on recently received proposals of the Azerbaijani side. This was stated by Chairman of the standing committee on foreign relations of the Armenian Parliament Sarkis Khandanyan.

He reminded that the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides periodically submit proposals to each other regarding the text of the peace treaty. Azerbaijan has recently sent its proposals to Armenia. "Armenia is working on these proposals. When our proposals are ready they will be sent to Azerbaijan," the Armenian media quoted Khandaanyan as saying.

When it comes to the results of the visit by special envoy of Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Khovayev to promote normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he said that Armenian government representatives discussed with Khovayev issues of Lachin corridor, security provision and all aspects of Armenia's foreign policy.

It ought to be noted that so far neither Baku nor Yerevan have disclosed what the latest peace treaty proposals are.

Note that Baku's initial proposal included: mutual recognition of territorial integrity, demarcation of borders, renunciation of future claims, and the establishment of diplomatic relations. Yerevan responded that it was ready to sign a peace treaty on these terms, but demanded that it include a clause on Karabakh's status. Baku rejected this demand.  -02D-
