Young People from Conflict Zones in the Region Will Meet in Batumi
European Movement Azerbaijan gave a start to a new project.
The Movement aims to bring Azerbaijanis, Armenians, Georgians and Turkish under an umbrella.
European Movement Azerbaijan (EM Azerbaijan) gave a start to a project financed by the German Marshall Fund, USA.
There will be held a training for the youth from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Turkey - 4 young people from bordering regions of each country in Batumi, Georgia, reported EM Azerbaijan Information Department.
The topics of the 2-days training are the followings: "What is confidence-building?"; "Different aspects of building confidence and learning to share again". Professional experts will conduct the trainings.
After the Batumi trainings the trainees will conduct different workshops on confidence building with local youth in borderline regions and shoot films-rolling on life circumstances at the regions that they represent.
Furthermore there will be presentation ceremony of the website "Peace-builders network" in 5 languages. The presentations will be held on the same day and at the same time in Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea, in Armenia in Sevan Lake, in Georgia in the Black Sea and in Istanbul in Bosporus Strait. Shot films on peace building will be placed on the website. -06D--

On September 11, the Baku Court of Appeal heard the appeal of Hafiz Babali, the economics editor at Turan News Agency, against the newspaper "Iki Sahil." The appeal was filed in response to a May 13 decision by the Khatai District Court, which rejected Babali's lawsuit against the newspaper. The lawsuit was initiated due to unfounded accusations and defamation published by the newspaper in an article dated December 28, 2023. The article claimed that "Hafiz Babali had established contacts with foreign funds and conducted investigations and prepared articles on their behalf."

At a meeting on September 12, the Central Election Commission (CEC) found no violations in the parliamentary elections held on September 1 at seven polling stations in the 33rd Khatai First Electoral District. The complaint was filed by Natig Jafarli, a parliamentary candidate and member of the political committee of the REAL party. In this district, the CEC considers Zahid Oruj, the head of the Center for Social Research and a member of the previous parliament, to be the leading candidate.
