Zurab Zhvania"s brother accuses the ex-ministers of staging his death
Tbilisi/26.10.12/Turan-BSPRES: The brother of the former Prime Minister, Zurab Zhvania, who died tragically in 2005, accused a group of former ministers of the command of President Mikhail Saakashvili of staging his death.
" The voiced official version, according to which Zurab Zhvania died in an accident was an absolute lie," said Giorgi Zhvania on air to the "Maestro" TV company in the "Politmetr" program. However, he argued that there is evidence that shows the falsity of the official version of the death of Zurab Zhvania, due to the leakage of carbon monoxide.
According to him, will be soon set up an investigation team to investigate the death of Zhvania. Giorgi Zhvania said that he has a version, who could order and who was the executor of the murder, but the investigation should determine it.
"Pretence of the death was done by Giorge Baramidze, vano Merabishvili and Zurab Adeishvili under the guidance of Saakashvili ," said Giorgi Zhvania.
According to him, former State Minister for European Integration Giorgi Baramidze was directly involved in the organization of the pretence of Zhvania’s death.
"Of course, he will have to talk about it in the Prosecutor Office. Investigation should define who planned it. They attempted to conceal everything, there may be problems with witnesses, but the truth will be found," said Giorgi Zhvania.
He did not accused of the murder the former ministers. "I do not say that these persons killed my brother, but I declare that they arranged in this apartment circumstances of death by negligence ... Saakashvili personally led the process,"said Giorgi Zhvania.
Zurab Zhvania was one of the key figures in contemporary Georgian politics, one of the leaders of the "Rose Revolution" in which President of Georgia became Mikhail Saakashvili.
He was found dead at night of February 3, 2005 in Tbilisi, together with Raul Yusupov, the Deputy Governor of Kvemo Kartli (eastern Georgia) in a rented apartment in Tbilisi. According to the official version of the investigation, the cause of death was a tragic accident - carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty heater.
During these years Zhvania's family has always demanded an independent investigation into the circumstances of his death, because it did not trust the official version of the investigation.
A few days before the parliamentary elections in Georgia, won by the opposition coalition "Georgian Dream", the TV company "Maestro" reported that, in the near future the Internet may appear footage that may shed light on the circumstances of Zhvania’s death. The TV company stated, referring to "a competent source abroad", that it has information about the existence of such videos, and that they will soon be made public. However, the prediction of the "Maestro" did not come true.
Bidzina Ivanishvili , the leader of the coalition "Georgian Dream", said that the investigation into the death of former Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania will continue under the new government -02D-
