A sharp cold snap is expected in Azerbaijan in the middle of the week
Baku/08.01.24/Turan: A sharp change in weather conditions is expected in Azerbaijan on January 10-12. On January 10, a strong north-westerly wind will blow in Baku and Absheron with gusts up to 25-28 m/s, the message of the National Hydrometeorology Service. At night, in some places of the Absheron Peninsula, the wind speed will reach 30-33 m/s. Rain is expected in the evening of January 10, and sleet is expected in the suburbs of the country. The air temperature will drop by 5-8 degrees compared to previous days.
Rains and sleet are expected across the country, starting from mountainous areas, on January 10-12, and snow is expected in the mountains and foothills. Precipitation will be intense in Nakhchivan, Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur, Gazakh-Ganja, Balakan-Sheki, Guba-Gusar zones. The westerly wind will increase to 15-20 m/s, and gusts to 25-30 m/s. The air temperature will drop by 5-10 degrees.
In low-lying areas, it will be 0 +5 at night, 6 +11 degrees in the daytime, 6 -11 degrees in the mountains at night, 0-5 degrees in the afternoon. On the night of January 11, ice is possible on mountain and foothill roads.—06B-
