Abulfaz Garayev Promises to Restore Order on Beaches
Baku / 21.04.17 / Turan: This summer season 21 beaches will operate in the country. This was reported at a meeting in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism during the discussions of the plan of activities for the development of beach tourism for 2017-2020.
In 2017, it is planned to create 6 private and public beaches in Baku, 2 private and public beaches in Khachmaz, 2 private beaches and 1 public beach in Lankaran, and 1 private and 1 public beach in Astara, Minister Garayev said. He also noted the need to define a single beach season, unified standards and the level of service and safety, the Ministry's press service quotes Garayev. The Minister also touched upon the future of illegal beaches.
The report also noted that the beaches will receive the due infrastructure, the activities of beach operators, security measures and environmental protection will be regulated, etc.
Note that most of the beaches on Absheron are private and unreasonably expensive. Access to public beaches is limited due to seizure of the coastal strip by oligarchs, high-ranking officials, etc.
Despite the discontent of local residents, the authorities do not take effective measures and ignore protests.
With regard to open areas, their length is extremely small, and the so-called free beaches mean only free bathing. Everything else, i.e. services and equipment, is paid. The public beaches have terrible unsanitary conditions and swimming there is unsafe for health. -02D-
