Accused Present Last Speeches at Nardaran Trial
In the trial of the Nardaran case the concluding statements of the accused continued today. They confirm the statements of other defendants of torture and inhuman treatment to them after the arrest by the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) MIA.
The defendant Ali Nuriyev said that Rafael Bunyadov wounded during a special operation was finished off by police officers for calling Imam Hussein to help him.
In GDCOC the arrested were demanded not to celebrate Ashura (Imams’ Assassination Day) and not to keep mourning for the Imams.
Shamil Abdulaliyev said his body still has two bullets fired by police on November 26 last year in the operation in Nardaran.
He was taken to hospital by residents of Nardaran. However, instead of surgery and treatment, he was interrogated by police.
“The doctors were told that if there was no threat to life, they should not operate me. With a plaster on my hand I was thrown into the cell,” Abdulaliev said.
Abbas Tagizadeh, Rasim Jebrailov and Zakir Mustafayev also spoke about torture. At the same time, they asked the court to sentence them to life imprisonment.
“Against us was a lot of injustice. At least now we ask you to be fair to us and not separate us from Taleh Bagirzadeh,” Nuriyev said.
The meeting will continue on 19 January.
The speeches by Ali Guliyev and the PFPA Deputy Chairman Fuad Gahramanli are awaited. -36C-
