Actions of protest by a group of entrepreneurs
Baku/25.05.21/Turan: On May 25, a group of entrepreneurs of the Baku shopping center called “Taza Bazar” held a protest action. The entrepreneurs argued that their properties in the mall, which were demolished within a few months, were not valued according to market prices. They demand full compensation.
“Taza Bazar”, where 700 outlets were located, has not been operating for eight months. This happened after it was acquired by a new entrepreneur, whose name has not been disclosed.
The owners of the retail outlets were promised that after the construction of a new shopping center on the site of the “Taza Bazar”, they would receive equivalent retail premises here. Most of the shopkeepers agreed to the terms and received temporary outlets in three malls.
Some of the entrepreneurs work in the EuroHome shopping centers built on the site of the former Karabakh hotel, some in the AF Center opposite the Taza Bazar, and another group received premises in Afcomplaza.
However, 35 entrepreneurs did not agree to the terms and demand monetary compensation.
“Our private shops remain here. They have emptied our shops and closed our doors, even though we have legal documents. Objects were the only source of income for our families. My store is my personal property, but it was closed without any warning or compensation,” said entrepreneur Fikret Babayev.
The entrepreneurs report that, although they contacted government agencies, they did not receive a positive response. Protesting entrepreneurs say there were at least 1,500 employees in the nearly 700 stores on the market. —0—
