Ahsan Nuruzade arrested for 10 days (UPDATED)

The religious activist Ahsan Nuruzade missing  on January 24, on the same day was arrested for 10 days on charges of not subordinate police. In violation of the law,  until January 30 he was  kept in the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) of the  Interior Ministry, without informing his family, and was  not allowed to meet with his lawyer,  Turan was told by his lawyer Yalcin Imanov. Today he met with Nuruzade after his transfer to the Binagadi prison.

Police say Nuruzade used foul language in front of the GDCOC address to the agency. When police demanded to stop the bullies, he swore at them and tried to escape.

In fact, Nuruzade was  kidnapped and subjected to psychological pressure. They demanded evidence against the National Council of Democratic Forces and Thale Bagirzade, human rights activist Oktay Gyulalyev. In particular, Nuruzade  was madeto testify that Thale Bagirzade was  financed by the West and Iran at the same time, the lawyer said. Ahsan Nuruzade was a regular visitor to hearings on "Nardaran case", the participants of which were the theologian Thale Bagirzade and 17 believers. He left home on January 24 at 17.00 for cigarettes and never returned. All this time, in spite of the appeal  of  his family members and lawyers in all instances - Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, different police participants, the Ombudswoman office, the ICRC,  it is impossible to know where  Nuruzade was.-0--

The whereabouts of the believer Ahsan Nuruzadeh missing since January 24 are already known. After 6 days, his family was informed that he is in the Organized Crime Department (OCD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by the Nuruzadeh family that was notified on Sunday. However, the family was not informed on the reason for the detention.

On Monday morning the lawyer Yalcin Imanov protecting Nuruzadeh was invited to OCD, where he is now. Today Imanov was going to address to the Attorney General about the disappearance of Nuruzadeh and no response from the law enforcement.

Nuruzadeh was a regular visitor to hearings on the so-called Nardaran case, the participants of which were the theologian Taleh Bagirzadeh and 17 believers. He left home on January 24 at 17.00 for cigarettes and never returned.

All the while, in spite of the appeals of the family members and lawyers to all instances - Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, different police departments, the Ombudsman office, and the ICRC, they did not succeed to know where Nuruzade was. -0--

The lawyer Yalchin Imanov on Saturday sent a letter to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov to search for the religious activist Ahsan Nuruzadeh, who disappeared on 24 January.

40-year-old Nuruzadeh on January 24 about 17:00 p.m. went out to buy cigarettes and then disappeared. Calls reached his mobile phone before 27 January, but nobody answered. Since Friday, the phone has been switched off.

On 26-27 January relatives and the lawyer turned to the district police departments in Baku, the Metropolitan Police, the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime at the Interior Ministry, the service 102, the Ombudsman and the International Committee of the Red Cross in search for the man. But these appeals were unsuccessful. On 27 January the lawyer went to the police with a request to register Nuruzadeh as a missing person. 

The lawyer in his address to the head of the Interior Ministry said Nuruzadeh constantly came to the hearings in the case of the Muslim Unity leader, Taleh Bagirzadeh and 17 others and because of this he was subjected to surveillance and harassment.

"Ahsan Nuruzadeh has two young children and his seriously ill mother in his care, and the family is in trouble. According to our assumptions, Nuruzadeh is kept in some police authority. These assumptions are amplified by the fact that some police say they "cannot give information", while others show no desire to conduct an effective investigation," the lawyer said to the Interior Minister.

He recalled the words of President Ilham Aliyev and the Interior Minister Ramil Usubov about the reliable protection of public order and the rule of law and the accession of stability in the country.

The lawyer called on the Minister to find Nuruzadeh, and if he is detained, then to inform his family about that. -06B--
