Alasgar Mammadli: The government itself must respond critics
In connection with the European Games Azerbaijan is in the focus of the world media. However, the world and European media in the mass are not subject to manipulation. They are more inclined to investigations, and informing audiences about alternative views.
This opinion was expressed by media expert Alasgar Mammadli, commenting on Turan the appeal of the presidential assistant Ali Hasanov to the local media to counter anti-Azerbaijani propaganda from the West.
According to Mammadli, the cause of discussion by the world media the human rights problems is worsening after 2013 the situation with the freedom of the media, limiting the activities of NGOs.
"The Council of Europe, the European Parliament, UN agencies, the European Court have been informed of situation in Azerbaijan. World media give critical coverage of these issues and problems. In Azerbaijani society, many expect solutions to these problems," said Mammadli.
Of course, the success of the Azerbaijani athletes, raising the flag of Azerbaijan is good, but it is not good to keep silence about the existing problems.
"Today, journalists, NGO leaders and lawyers are under arrest. Their arrest was not linked to objective reasons. If the people in the country, raising these problems are silenced, it will continue to be on the agenda of the world's media," said Mammadli.
The expert also noted that all media should cover events objectively, to bring to the public different opinion. "Media should not be a party, and giving different views, they provide an opportunity for people themselves to draw conclusions. Moreover, the government itself must respond to criticism and not to call for the media," said Mammadli.-03B-
