Baku / 24.07.18 / Turan: Among the dead and injured in the forest fires in Greece there are no citizens of Azerbaijan, stated the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev. According to him, the Azerbaijani embassy in Athens is in constant contact with the relevant Greek authorities. The number of victims of wildfires raging in Greece, according to the latest data, reached 53 people; 150 people are wounded. The fires continue in three directions around Athens. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
