Announced Verdict on Believers Who Participated in Shootout in Sumgayit
Sumgayit Court of Grave Crimes on March 3 read a verdict on 13 believers arrested in connection with a shooting in the city in December 2013
The court sentenced Elchin Akbarov, Zaur Pashayev and Elmar Mammadov to nine years in prison. Elchin Mirzoyev, Vugar Abdullayev, Anar Rahimov, Murad Maharramov, Anar Mirzoyev and Ahmed Soltanov received a prison sentence of 8 years, Kenan Mehraliyev, Amil Tagiyev, Jalal Mikayilov and Firudin Musayev got 7 years in prison. They are guilty under article 221 (hooliganism), 228 (illegal arms), 29, 120.2.4 (preparation to deliberate murder) and 234 (illegal drugs) of the Criminal Code. Turan was told by the lawyer for Mehraliyev, Fariz Namazly.
According to him, the accused pleaded not guilty and believe that they can be judged only by God.
