ANS Chiefs Called to Prosecutor (UPDATED)
The night before, the head of the TV channel ANS Vahid Mustafayev and his deputy Mirshahin Agayev were summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office for Serious Crimes, where they were interrogated.
As it became known to Turan from informed sources, Mustafayev and Agayev explained their idea to prepare a report about a press conference by Fatullah Gulen, which he arranged in the United States.
Earlier, the National Television and Radio Council regarded the announcement of such reporting as the propaganda of terrorism and by the public prosecutor’s requirement the court ordered the termination of ANS broadcasting.
Let us remind that the Turkish authorities accused Gulen of organizing the coup attempt on 16 July and the official Baku expressed support for Ankara. Against this background, the idea to broadcast Fatulla Gulen was evaluated by the authorities of Azerbaijan as an attempt to "embroil" Ilham Aliyev with Erdogan.
It is noteworthy that the ANS management remains true to its tradition and does not comment on what is happening. The channel also does not apply to the international and local community for support. -0302B-
2016 July 18 (Monday) 21:14:51
In the evening on July 18, the Azerbaijani authorities stopped broadcasting of the private TV channel ANS. According to unofficial information, the reason for this was the preparation for a broadcast of an interview with the theologian Fatullah Gulen, opponent to Recep Tayip Erdogan, which he gave in the US the day before.
Among the journalists there was also a correspondent for the ANS channel.
It is known that the Turkish authorities consider Gulen the organizer of the attempted coup in Turkey. Therefore, screening the interview on an Azerbaijani channel would be perceived as support for the coup.
As it became known to Turan from sources in ANS, on Monday evening the channel was raided by representatives of several government agencies in charge of communications and broadcasting. They cut off the equipment for broadcasting without explanation. -02B-

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
