Appeal to the Ombudswoman in connection with the health of Zafar Ahmadli
Baku/17.08.18/Turan: PFPA activist Zafar Ahmedli, arrested for 30 days, suffers from health problems, his family members told RadioAzadlig. He suffers from kidney pain and needs constant care and treatment. "There are no such conditions in the remand center, although we bought and transferred all the necessary medicines," said family members who had already applied to the relevant structures in connection with his health. Today, August 17, Ahmadli's lawyers appealed to the Ombudsman with a request for assistance in changing the measure of restraint. On July 27, Khatai court sentenced PFPA activist Zafar Ahmadli to 30 days of administrative arrest. He was accused of violating the administrative order, he allegedly did not heed the demand of the police, who called him to order. The appeal of the activist was rejected. The real reason for the arrest of the activist is his critical status in Facebook. Zafar Ahmedli is the father of FuadAhmadli, an imprisoned PFPA activist. The latter was detained on August 17, 2016 and charged under the Articles 302.1 (violation of the law on operative-search activity), 308.1 (abuse of official authority). The Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced him to 4 years in prison. FuadAhmadli rejects the charges, stating that his arrest is politically motivated. -0-

During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
