Armenians Ask to Be Allowed to Interrogate Permyakov
Yerevan / 17.01.15 / Turan- ArmInfo: The Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan addressed his Russian counterpart Yuri Chaika to allow the Armenian investigators to interrogate the Russian soldier Valery Permyakov accused of the murder of six people in Gyumri.
According to the newspaper Haykakan Zhamanak, the investigating authorities of Armenia have not had the opportunity to question or to meet with him yet.
At a rally in Gyumri on January 15 Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan assured that the Armenian investigators are already on the 102nd Russian base to carry out investigative activities. He also assured that the case is being investigated by the Armenian and Russian parties on the basis of a comparison of laws of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the new pro-Kremlin organization Antimaydan, which appeared recently in Moscow, has already announced Permyakov, killer of an Armenian family of 6, as "prisoner of conscience" and requires not to extradite him to Armenia and send him to Russia.
The population of the city of Gyumri, where the tragedy occurred on January 12, awaits extradition of Permyakov from the 102nd Russian military base to the authorities of Armenia and threaten to launch new protests, if this does not happen. However, it seems that Moscow is not going to listen to the opinions of its "strategic" ally and "outpost in the Caucasus." -02D-
