At the trial in the case of activist of the "REAL"
On Friday Sumgait Court of Appeals began consideration of the complaint of the youth activist REAL Shaliev Rahim, who was arrested on April 20 to 30 days on charges of hooliganism and police supervision. Shaliev was not brought to court, and that is why the lawyer Yalcin Imanov asked to postpone the trial, and presented several petitions.
The Judge Nazim Movsumov granted only part of them, including a subpoena of police who drew up a report and indictment, the questioning of witnesses and the participation of the Shaliev.
At the same time, the court refused to request the data on phone calls from mobile operator Bakcell.
The lawyer said that recognition from Shaliev was obtained under pressure: he was tortured. The Court of First Instance ordered the arrest without trial, he said. The judge postponed the hearing on 27 February.
Shaliev is also a blogger and published in the media. "REAL" regarded his arrest as politically motivated.-08B06--
