At the trial in the case of Tofig Yagublu
Baku / 12.11.20 / Turan: On November 12, the Court of Appeal began considering the complaint of Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces and the Musavat party. He appealed against the decision of the first instance court - the Nizami court, which sentenced him to 4 years and three months in prison on charges of hooliganism.
However, the consideration of the complaint without explanation was postponed until 3 December.
Yagublu himself told reporters that the court deliberately postpones the trial, because it has not yet received instructions from the very top.
Oppositionist Tofig Yagublu was detained on March 22. According to law enforcement officers, he caused an accident and attacked a married couple. The politician considers himself a victim of provocation. “My father was in his car near the market. The car was parked. However, another car drove into the father's car, and the people in it began to behave aggressively towards the father. He only managed to report that a provocation had been committed against him. Then he was detained and taken to the Nizami district police department of Baku, ”said Yagublu's daughter Nigar Hazi. The party "Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe" considered his arrest as part of the repression against the opposition.-03B-

For Elshan Hasanov, a 46-year-old man with severe hearing impairment (fourth-degree), what should have been a straightforward process to receive government-provided hearing aids has turned into a bureaucratic nightmare involving three healthcare agencies. As a result, Hasanov is forced to pay nearly 60 manats ($35) several times a year for what used to be a free service—a cost he says is untenable on his modest disability pension.
