At Trial of Kalbajar Residents

Yerevan / 30.10.14 / Turan-ArmInfo: In Karabakh continues the trial of two former residents of the Kalbajar region, Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev. As reported by the Armenian media,

Dilgam Askerov said in court on October 29 that he had regularly visited Kalbajar occupied by the Armenians in 1993. In particular, he crossed the front line in 1998, 2005 and 2007, both alone and with comrades.

Turning to the circumstances of the last visit together with Shahbaz Guliyev and Hasan Hasanov this summer, he said that the purpose of the group was to find the gold hidden in the area and to visit the graves of their relatives.

According to Askerov, when they were already in the territory controlled by Armenians, they were regularly shooting with a camcorder. On the question why they filmed, the defendant explained that they supposedly wanted to further demonstrate these frames in their future cafe.

Askerov denied involvement in the murder of a 17-year-old local resident Smbat Tsakanyan, saying that the murder was committed by the third member of the group, Hasan Hasanov.

Earlier, similar testimony was also given by Shahbaz Guliyev, noting that he was not involved in the murder of the young man.

The Armenian side claims that Hasan Hasanov was shot after he shot a car with a man and a woman in it in Kalbajar. -02D-
