Avaz Zeinally sues against the Ministry of Taxes
On Tuesday took the a trial in the case of the convicted journalist Avaz Zeynalli took place in the Baku Administrative Economic Court N1. The lawsuit was filed against the audit department in the Ministry of Taxes. The plaintiff demands to declare invalid a tax audit conducted in February 2012 in the newspaper "Khural."
Protection issued a petition to invite to the court Avaz Zeynalli, but the judge refused Miminat Hajibayova refused to grant the petition.
The complaint is that in February 2012 the Ministry of Taxes said that the audit revealed tax evasion amounting to 7,251 manat.
Materials were sent to the Office of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor General. At that time, Baku Serious Crimes Court considered the case on extortion against Avaz Zeynalli.
Suddenly the Audit Department of the Ministry of Taxes appealed to the Economic Administrative court with a statement to "suspend the execution of its decision passed in February 2012 - tax evasion by the editorial office amounting 7251 manat. The judge Miminat Hajibayova decided to suspend the execution of the decision the Ministry of Taxes.
However, in July of 2012 the same judge, Hajibayova passed a ruling there is not a ground suspend the decision of the Ministry of Taxes. Defense believes that this political order.
Editor of "Khural" newspaper, Avaz Zeynalli, was arrested in October 2012. He was accused of demanding bribes through threats, as well as tax evasion and default judgments, and was sentenced to nine years. -05D04-
