Azerbaijan and Georgia to Improve Quality of Broadcasting in Border Areas
A protocol guiding the introduction of GSM technology and SDMA communication signals was signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia today. The document includes an agreement to broadcast digital television and FM radio stations in the border areas, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Minister Ali Abbasov, speaking about cooperation with Georgia, said that Azerbaijan is the coordinator of the project Trans-Eurasian Super Information Main (TASIM). Georgia may join the project, which involves laying a fiber-optic transnational line from Western Europe to East Asia.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the participation of neighboring countries in the project, the Minister expressed hope that the project will be supported by other neighboring countries.
The Georgian Deputy Minister of Communication, Kumsishvili noted the strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries. He pointed out the advantages of Azerbaijan’s first telecommunications satellite and the importance of Georgian channels broadcast by the satellite.
Kumsishvili highlighted the development of digital broadcasting in the border areas. Signing the protocol will let operators develop these technologies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a protocol was signed on the prospect of the introduction of new GSM technologies. -02D-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
