Azerbaijani Authorities Closed University for Its Proximity to Gulen
The Azerbaijani authorities have decided to close one of the best private universities in the country - Caucasus.
The Ministry of Education said the appropriate appeal was received from the university’s founder. A working group will be created to let the students continue their studies in other universities. It will decide the issue of transfers of students, the report said.
Note that the university was founded by structures close to the Turkish theologian Fatullah Gulen, which Ankara accuses of organizing the coup attempt on 16 July.
The decision to close this institution, which operates in Azerbaijan since 1993, coincided with the steps of the Turkish authorities, who pursue supporters and structures close to Gulen everywhere.
The University of Caucasus gave education to thousands of students at several faculties. The graduates have a high level of education. It is noteworthy that one of the main sponsors of the university was SOCAR. -02B-
