Azerbaijani POW in Armenia "Suddenly" Wanted to Return Home

Yerevan/16.08.13/Turan-Arminfo: Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan said that being in Armenia, the Azerbaijani captive Firuz Faradzhev changed his mind and now wants to return home (he had previously refused to return to Azerbaijan - ed.). Moreover, he asked for an early meeting with the representatives of international humanitarian organizations in Armenia. Tonoyan told representatives of the Red Cross abiut all this.

In this regard, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia invited representatives of neutral humanitarian organizations, in particular the ICRC, to meet Faradzhev.

As for Faradzhev, he was captured in July 2012. According to the Azerbaijani version, he was kidnapped by Armenian scouts. After some time, the Armenians said that he does not want to go home and wants to leave for another country.

It is noteworthy that the change of mood in Faradzhev occurred after the Armenian soldier Hagop Indzhigulyan ran to the Azerbaijani side. It happened on the night of August 8. He explained his actions by saying that the commander had insulted him and hit him.

After this, the Armenian side said that Indzhigulyan just got lost, and Baku made him slander himself.

Apparently, the Armenian side seeks the exchange of prisoners of war and wants to do it as soon as possible so that Indzhigulyan does not blab all he knows. -16D-
