Azerbaijani Sportsmen Win Six Medals in European Games
Azerbaijani sportsmen won another six medals on June 18 - the seventh day of the I European Games. Thus, the total number of medals of Azerbaijan has reached 29, and by this indicator only Russia is ahead, with 40 medals.
On June 18 a gold medal was brought to Azerbaijan by a taekwondo fighter Milad Harchegani. In the final match among athletes in the 80 kg weight category, he won a landslide victory over the Russian Albert Gaun – 9:4.
A taekwondo wrestler Farida Azizova was second among female athletes in the weight category 67 kg.
Another silver medal for Azerbaijan was brought by the gymnast Oleg Stepko. He was the second in the all-around.
In freestyle wrestling, Azerbaijani sportsmen won three bronze medals. In the weight category 61 kg the third place was taken by Haji Aliyev, 70 kg – by Ruslan Dibirgadjiyev, and 125 kg – by Jamaleddin Magomedov. -06D--
