Azerbaijani tried to take to Georgia 2.5 kilo of gold
Tbilisi / 08.12.17 / Turan: Officers of the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia detained an Azerbaijani citizen at the Sarpi Chamber of Commerce (Georgian-Turkish border) on charges of illegally importing 2.5 kilograms of gold products, the ministry said. According to the same source, the accused, whose name is not called, tried to smuggle goods from Turkey to Georgia. Unidentified gold, he hid in a hiding place, located in his car. The total value of gold products - 165.5 thousand lari (about 62 thousand dollars.)
The lawsuit was filed under the Article "violation of the rules related to the movement of goods across the customs border of Georgia committed in an especially large amount", which is punishable by imprisonment for 5 to 7 years. This is not the first case of an attempt to smuggle gold through Georgia.
In October, Georgian customs officers detained a citizen of Azerbaijan on the Red Bridge, who was trying to take out two kilo of gold bars. The total cost of the contraband goods was 53 thousand dollars.
On August 18, 2016, an Azerbaijani citizen tried to transport 19 gold bars with a total weight of 18.6 kilograms, too, through the "Red Bridge".
Gold was hidden in a hiding place under the back seat of the car. The cost of contraband was $ 572.6 thousand.
In April this year, Bayram Ganjaliyev and Elman Huseynov tried to import 12 kg of gold of the highest standard into Georgia and 131 thousand dollars. In June, Ramin Nabiyev was arrested; he brought into Georgia gold bullion worth about $24,000. -02D-
