Baku Orthodox Diocese Celebrates Christmas
The head of the Baku diocese of the Orthodox Church, Archbishop Alexander organized an evening reception on the occasion of Christmas on January 9 at the Park Inn.
In his congratulatory speech, Archbishop Alexander wished welfare, prosperity and peace for the guests. He prayed for world peace, for an end to conflicts, and mercy for all people.
The Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov spoke about the conditions in Azerbaijan for the activities of all religious faiths. In the country, he said, there are no negative effects on religious grounds. He gave assurance that the attitude to the work of religious organizations would be fair.
The reception was attended by leaders of the Muslim and Jewish faiths, representatives of the Russian community of Azerbaijan, and the Ambassadors of the Orthodox faith nations. -05C04-

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
