Baku/06.05.22/Turan: The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has strengthened security measures at sea and on land due to the predicted sharp deterioration of weather conditions.
According to the SOCAR, it is limited to perform dangerous work; appropriate measures are taken to protect workers. "As a part of security measures there was carried out evacuation of workers from a number of production sites," the company said.
In turn, the Caspian Shipping Company of Azerbaijan (CSCA), in connection with expected stormy weather, has sent a warning to all vessels navigating in the Caspian Sea.
The warning said that from the night of May 06 to the morning of May 08 the north-west-north wind speed in the Caspian Sea will reach 18-23 m/sec, at times - 25-30 m/sec, and in gusts - up to 33 m/sec.
Ships are advised not to go to the open sea and to take shelters.
EMERCOM, for its part, appealed to the population to follow the relevant safety rules in bad weather. It was recommended to stay away from light buildings and temporary structures, billboards, not to stay under the electric poles and power lines, tall trees.
According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, strengthening of the northwest wind is expected in Baku and Absheron by the evening of May 6. Air temperature will reach +11+14 at night and +15+17 during the day.
Thunderstorms and short rains are expected in some areas of Azerbaijan.
Heavy rains, hail and snow are expected in some areas. Air temperature will be +9+14 at night and +16+21 during the day. In the mountains, 0+5 at night, +5+9 during the day. -16D06-
