Bashir Suleymanli is forcibly tonsured in jail

  The  executive director of the Elections  Monitoring and  Democracy  Studies Center (EMDS), Bashir Suleymanli, was forcibly tonsured in jail, a lawyer Elchin Sadigov  wrote on his

Facebook  page. The lawyer described it as lawlessness. "This is absolutely contrary to the Code of Corrections and internal regulations of the prison service. We will appeal to the Prison Service, and depending on the response, will file a lawsuit. Such treatment violates human dignity," wrote Sadigov.

In  May last year  Suleymanli was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on charges of misappropriation, illegal business activities, abuse of office, tax evasion, official forgery. The true reason for his arrest is participation in the project,  expose violations in the presidential election of 2013.

Amnesty International recognized Suleymaly  "prisoner of conscience". -03D-
