In 2014, the list of exported goods from Azerbaijan first included yogurt, with the entire volume (491 tons) purchased by Afghanistan.
According to the State Customs Committee, the export of yoghurt generated $ 1 million 94.8 thousand. In other words, a kilogram of yogurt was sold abroad at a price of $ 2.23.
It is noteworthy that similar goods are imported at an average price of $ 1.50 / kg. The main suppliers are manufacturers of Russia (2,651.8 tons), Belarus (141.7 tons) and Ukraine (42.9 tons). Last year, imports of dairy products increased by 15% and amounted to 2,859 tons.
According to experts, the monthly consumption of yogurt in Azerbaijan is about 1,000 tons. The only producer of yogurt under the brand name Milla in the country is AZFP Co ltd. Last year, the company Atena launched a joint production of yoghurt with the company Danone. Soon, however, the production was suspended. A source in Danone told Turan that due to the completion of the purchase and installation of new equipment the production will be reopened this year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan produced 35,218.8 tons of liquid and condensed yogurts in 2014. -----08B
