On Monday, at about 16:00, 15 minutes before the hearing in the European Parliament on the human rights situation in Azerbaijan, in Baku, was cut off electricity and the Internet of the journalist Khadija Ismailova, who was to join as a speaker, to participants in the discussions on Skype. The announcement about it appeared on Ismailova page to Facebook. Hearing is dated to the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Brussels. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
