Blogger Mehman Huseynov Disagrees with CEC Decision
Baku / 05.01.20 / Turan: On January 5, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan considered the complaint of blogger Mehman Huseynov on the results of elections to the municipal council of Garachukhur village.
At the end of the elections on December 23, Huseynov, referring to the data from the protocols from the majority of polling stations, announced his confident victory.
However, according to the district election commission, he did not pass to the municipal council.
The blogger has filed a complaint with the district election commission (DEC). But the complaint was not satisfied and he himself was accused of violations.
Huseynov filed a complaint against the decision of the DEC to the CEC.
Its consideration took place on January 5 with the participation of Huseynov himself.
According to the blogger (Turan News Agency), the CEC investigated only a small part of the numerous violations recorded by the videos.
As a result, the CEC canceled the voting results for only two polling stations, which did not affect the general election results for the municipality.
The CEC also decided to dissolve the election commissions of these two precincts.
Huseynov does not agree with the decision of the CEC.
“I do not need their punishing the members of the commissions. We demanded a different thing - cancellation of the results throughout the municipality and recount of the votes,” Huseynov said.
He said that until the end he will lead the struggle for his rights and will appeal to the court. –16B06-
