Case of Activist that Painted Monument to Heydar Aliyev Sent to Court
The case of the NIDA movement member Giyas Ibrahimov accused of drug trafficking has been handed over to the court, the lawyer Elchin Sadigov told Turan.
According to him, the case will be considered by the judge of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Enver Seyidov. The hearing date has not been appointed yet.
Recall that Giyas Ibragimov was arrested on 10 May this year, after unknown persons painted the monument to Heydar Aliyev in Baku with political slogans.
Together with him was arrested Bayram Mammadov, but the young people were charged with drug possession, not hooliganism.
With respect to Bayram Mammadov no investigation has been conducted, so it is not known when the case will go to court.
Note that for several days after the arrest the young people’s whereabouts were not known. On May 12 they were taken to the Khatai Court and on the same day the Interior Ministry spread information that 1 kg of heroin was found in their apartments.
The court sanctioned the arrest of Mammadov and Ibrahimov for 4 months on charges of purchasing, selling, transporting and smuggling drugs by a group of persons) - 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code.
However, Ibrahimov and Mammadov denied the charges. At trial, both men complained of torture, and the judge promised to investigate their complaint, but did nothing. -04 / 05D-
