Conquest of North Ushba - Great Success of Azerbaijani Climbers (Video)
The team of climbers under the leadership of Azerbaijani Firuz Dadashov (Republican Mountaineering Touring Club) made a successful ascent to one of the most difficult peaks of the Caucasus - Ushba (4,700 m).
Last year, Firuz Dadashov ascended South Ushba with Georgian climbers.
At this time, for the first time in history, the Azerbaijani team ascended North Ushba.
"The attack on the peak began at 4 a.m. on 16 August. We got to the summit only at 15 p.m.
The weather often changed and the traffic was difficult, I even thought to turn back, but we did not flinch and conquered the mountain. We descended to the basic camp at an altitude of 3,900 meters in the dark," Dadashov told Turan.
Besides him, the team included Andrei Gadimov (RATK) and Namin Bunyadov (Gilavar).
"Although this route is considered a classic one, in fact, it is the most difficult path, and this rise is definitely a great achievement of our athletes, given the negative attitude towards mountaineering in Azerbaijan," a veteran of Azerbaijani mountaineering, candidate master Eldar Jafarov, told Turan.
Note that the route to North Ushba runs from Georgia. The approach to the mountain, the acclimatization and the ascent take 7-10 days. -02B-
