Chovdarov and his company will be brought to justice
A lawsuit against the former head of the security department in the field of energy and transport of the Ministry of National Security, General Akif Chovdarov was sent to the Baku military court, said the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the same source, on the basis of individual complaints of citizens and businesses, it was found that Akif Chovdarov, as well as heads of subdivisions in his Office: Salim Mammadov, Akif Aliyev, and Orhan Osman created in 2005-2015 an organized group, and using official position, illegally collected information and carried out detective work, without reason. Thus, illegal wiretapping of the phones by entrepreneurs was organized, data and other illegal activities were withdrawn from the communication systems. The commercial and personal information was used for blackmail and extortion of money and property from numerous entrepreneurs. At the same time, they illegally attacked with arms the houses victims, used violence, illegal arrest and detention in the MNS building.
This has led to serious consequences such as mental and physical suffering of the victims, their bankruptcy, the debts to banks for loans, deprivation of movable and immovable property.
The number of victims of such illegal actions was 62 people, who have lost a total of money and property at 17 million 172,000 manats.
Investigation has seized property of Chovdarov and three of his deputies, totaling 33.446 million manat - shopping facilities, greenhouses, fish farms, mansions and apartments, cars and jewelry.
The arrested are accused under several dozen of Articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, including: unlawful confinement, appropriation of an organized group, robbery with a weapon, extortion, forgery, abuse of power with the use of weapons, and other serious crimes.
On September 5 the investigation materials were sent to the Baku Military Court. The investigation in the case of other senior officials of the former Ministry of National Security continues, the report says.
Twenty one former high-ranking officers of the National Security Ministry, including generals, colonels, the heads of several departments are currently under arrest. All of them are accused of grave and especially grave crimes. -16D-
