Club of 125 Demands Release of Ismayilova
The Club of the 125 made a statement, which requires the release of the journalist Khadija Ismayilova.
Members of the Club, which includes public figures and politicians, have expressed serious concern that persons actively involved in public life are imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
"The arrest of an employee of Radio Azadlig, known for her critical articles, is an indicator of pressure against freedom of expression," say the authors of the statement.
This kind of arrests is an obstacle to democratic development, as well as the country's international image.
The Club members believe that civilized and just struggle is the only option for the democratic development of the country.
The authors of the statement called for civil solidarity and dialogue, and the release of imprisoned social and political activists. --05D04-
