Meredis positively assessed the decision by Azerbaijan National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking for 2014-2018.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Gulam Isakzai said that at present the number of trafficking victims in the world is 20 million people. And the announcement on July 30 Day of the fight against trafficking was intended to draw international attention to this problem. The event was named trafficking slavery of the modern era.
