Consideration of Appeal by Javid Shiraliyev Postponed Again
The hearing of the case of the editor of the portal www.7gun.az Javid Shiraliyev, sentenced to 5 years in prison was again postponed in Ganja Court of Appeal. The court decided to postpone the hearing for 9 January.
The editor of the portal www.7gun.az xəbər Javid Shiraliyev was sentenced on May 22, 2016 to 5 years imprisonment by the Serious Crimes Court of Ganja on charges of extortion by threats (Articles 182.2.1 and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code.)
Shiraliyev was detained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on 30 August, 2014 and taken to the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. He was accused of being in collusion with Asif Akif oglu Orujov in June 2013 he extorted from Khankishiyeva Shafiga Ismail qizi 2,000 manat by threatening to circulate compromising material about her cafe in the village of Qovlar in Tovuz region.
It should be noted that at the end of December 2012 Javid Shiraliyev was persecuted after he handed to the media information about the violation on 23 December the rights of the poet Bakhtiyar Hidayat on the Edge "Red Bridge".
The lawyer Zabil Qahramanov told Turan that the court could not prove the guilt of Shiraliyev, and all testimonies are based on the statements of one person - Shafiga Khankishiyeva, who has problems with justice. -0-
