Consideration of the appeal of the Yunus spouses is scheduled for March 4
The Baku Court of Appeal scheduled the consideration of the complaints of Leyla and Arif Yunus on the denial of the right to leave Azerbaijan for treatment on March 4. The complaint will be considered by judges, chaired by Hasan Akhmedov, said Elchin Sadygov, the lawyer of Yunus.
He recalled that previously the Yasamal District Court dismissed a similar lawsuit by spouses. Special permit is required because the spouses have criminal penalties. Leyla and Arif Yunus, were arrested in July and August 2014, and in 2015 were sentenced to 8.5 and 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. After a year of arrest, the Baku Court of Appeal changed the sentence of Arif Yunus, and later Leyla Yunus on "conditional" for five years.
Arif Yunus suffers from hypertension, and several times suffered from a hypertensive crisis. Leyla hepatitis C, diabetes and other severe disease, which sharply escalated after the arrest. -06d--
