Council of Elders of Nardaran Appeals to Authorities and Citizens
The Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Nardaran settlement Natig Karimov addressed the public of the country.
He noted that the mass meeting of residents in Imam Hussein Square was completed.
On November 29 the Council of Elders decided to leave the square and the people went home.
"These steps are aimed at demonstrating the will to relieve tension and issues through negotiations," the appeal says.
About 200 pilgrims who came to visit the Nardaran sanctuary, but who could not leave the village because of clashes with police, were sent home yesterday.
The Council expressed its gratitude to the official organizations and law enforcement agencies for assisting in resolving these issues.
"Currently, there is no need to keep the police posts at the entrance of Nardaran. To return to normal life, it is important to remove the posts and cancel restrictions on the traffic.
If anyone tries to break the law, the people and the Council of Elders will themselves put an end to that," the statement notes.
It also notes the importance of the delivery of the bodies for burial, which would be an important step in removing the tension.
In addition, there is no precise information about the number of the detainees and the wounded.
It is necessary to allow the wounded to their homes and to provide the arrested with lawyers.
"We are also interested in investigating the events and revealing their essence. However, the investigation must be objective and impartial and the detainees should be provided with lawyers engaged by their families.
We are against any confrontation and use of violence against citizens," Kerimov said in the statement.
He called irresponsible the power outage in the village.
Because of this mail, hospitals, etc. cannot work normally.
On December 2, arrival of a large number of pilgrims on the 40th day of mourning for Imam Hussein is expected in Nardaran.
It is necessary to ensure that the pilgrimage takes place in a quiet atmosphere, Kerimov concluded. -05D06-
