Court Does Not Release Murad Adilov on Parole
Baku / 05.06.19 / Turan: The Narimanov district court of Baku on September 5 considered the appeal of the People's Front Party activist Murad Adilov about his release on parole in connection with the completion of two-thirds of his imprisonment term.
The court rejected the appeal on the basis of the negative characteristics of the administration of Prison No 5 and found it impossible to release him early due to a reprimand made because of his smoking in a wrong place. This was reported by his relatives.
Murad Adilov intends to appeal this decision
Recall that Adilov was arrested in August 2014 in Sabirabad on charges of illegal drug trafficking. On May 14, 2015, he was sentenced to six years in prison.
He is the brother of the press secretary of PFPA, an observer of the newspaper Azadlig and a presenter of the satellite television program Azerbaijan Hour Natig Adilov, who is now living abroad.
According to human rights defenders, M. Adilov is being persecuted because of his brother's journalistic activities, sharply criticizing the authorities of Azerbaijan.
Amnesty International recognizes M. Adilov as a "prisoner of conscience".
At the same time, Natig Adilov expressed surprise that other international structures never applied for the release of his brother. "He was not even sent a letter of support," N. Adilov said on his Facebook page. -06D-
