Court of Appeal Upholds Sentence on Mehman Huseynov
Baku / 12.04.17 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal today ruled on the complaint of Mehman Huseynov, head of the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS).
The court upheld the verdict on depriving Huseynov of freedom for a period of two years on the suit of the head of the Nasimi district police Musa Musayev.
The lawyer Elchin Sadigov, in a conversation with Turan IA, called the court's decision “illegal, unfair and biased.” The defense will file a cassation appeal with the Supreme Court.
Observing the trial, the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Ali Kerimli, told reporters the verdict still shows that “this court and this power protect corrupt officials.” -03C06--
