Press Review 12/04/2017

Progress in exports, the situation in the construction sector, the deficit of AZN, and the process of bankruptcy are the leading topics of today's press.

The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the growth of exports, which brings currency to the country and enables people to earn money. According to the State Statistics Committee and the Customs Committee, from January, individuals and legal entities of Azerbaijan have conducted trade operations with their partners in 117 countries.

Products of Azerbaijan were exported to 70 countries and foreign products were imported from 109.

Trade operations with foreign countries were carried out in the amount of 1,254.6 million US dollars. Of these, $ 804.6 million is exports, and $ 450 million is imports.

Novoye Vremya has published an article entitled “The economic crisis is finishing the construction sphere.” For over a year now, the construction boom in Azerbaijan has been replaced by the degradation of the construction sector. It is no accident that the country's GDP fell sharply as a result of a decline in production in the construction sector. Compared to previous years, the number of active construction companies fell by 80%.

Echo has published an article on the rules of bankruptcy. The law of Azerbaijan on bankruptcy was adopted in 1997. And all these years it concerned legal and physical persons who are entrepreneurs. However, at the end of 2015, the law was amended, according to which it extends to ordinary individuals, and the procedure for declaring bankruptcy is not detailed.

In general, this law is obsolete today, and it needs to be improved. In all civilized countries, the institution of bankruptcy is developed, which affects ordinary individuals as well. The institution of bankruptcy is also useful for society as a whole, since a register of information is created with a list of debtors, and everyone can go in and see who is bankrupt and who is not.

The Yeni Musavat newspaper writes that the dollar is becoming more expensive around the world, while in Azerbaijan it is vice versa. The expert Vugar Bayramli believes the Central Bank managed to reduce the manat supply through foreign exchange auctions, and from April 1, commercial banks have restrictions on cashing out money.

The depreciation of the dollar is due to the limitation of the manat supply, and not to the trend in the world market. –0--
