Court of Appeals left Mehman Huseynov in custody

The Baku Court of Appeal today rejected the complaint of convicted blogger Mehman Huseynov. The complaint was connected with the imposed ban on his departure from the country even before his arrest. Lawyer Elchin Sadigov told Turan about the groundlessness of the ban, which violates freedom of movement. "For the application of such restrictions, there must be legitimate grounds. Mehman Huseynov did not commit crimes. He was always engaged in blogging. The ban was directly related to his profession," Sadigov said.

The blogger was delivered to the closed  trial  from Shuvelan jail, and he stated that the  ban was groundless.  Huseynov was not released from the country on November 10, 2014, when he was going to an international event of the OSCE in Tbilisi. He was detained at the airport. After being interrogated by the police and the Prosecutor General's Office, he was released. Huseynov appealed this decision in a judicial order.

* Mehman Huseynov was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment on March 3 on charges of defamation on the suit of Nasimi police chief Musa Musayev. The reason for the claim was the blogger's statements about his abduction and torture by the Nasimi police.-05B06-
