Criminal Case Filed on Felling of Trees in Baku
Baku / 07/20/17 / Turan: The Prosecutor General's Office investigated the materials submitted by the Ministry of Ecology on damaging the nature, which totaled 7,920 manat.
It is about the destruction of 9 trees (cypresses, pines and elms) and damage to 20 trees during construction in the Nizami district of Baku.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, in the course of the preliminary investigation, gross violations of the Criminal Code and normative acts of the Forest Law were revealed, leading to illegal cutting of trees and causing major damage.
According to the above facts, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a criminal case on July 19 on two articles of the Criminal Code: 259.2.3 (illegal tree cutting) and 308.1 (abuse of official authority).
Necessary investigative measures are currently being carried out by the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. -16d04-
