Criminal Network Smuggling Drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan Unveiled
Baku / 16.08.18 / Turan: Employees of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan exposed an organized criminal network engaged in illegal drug trafficking.
According to the press center of the State Border Service, signs of violation of the state border of Azerbaijan by two Iranian citizens were revealed on the service territory of the border checkpoint near the village of Bala-Bahmanli of the Fizuli region.
As a result of urgent operational measures, two Iranian citizens, residents of Maku, Gasimzadeh Hasan Ahmed, born in 1972, and Hasanzadeh Hamid Huseyn, born in 1995, were detained. They were found and confiscated 1 kg 335 grams of heroin, 570 grams of opium, 265 grams of methamphetamine, 670 grams of marijuana and 10 psychotropic tablets.
In the course of the subsequent operative investigation in the village Araz-Dilagarda in the Fuzuli region, several people driving a Hyundai Elantra with the state license plate 99 MV 667 were detained for coming to take the drugs. They were residents of Baku Gunay Gudrat Gyzy Habibullayeva, born in 1986, Mirtagy Suleiman Oglu Mirnaghiyev, 1993, and an Iranian citizen Haji Hajelo Niari Isa Arshad.
During the search of the car and the personal belongings of the detainees, 6,435 US dollars, 16,400 AZN, as well as narcotics methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana in bags of 5-10 g were found in Habibullayeva's bag.
In addition, at the place of residence of the detained Iranian citizen, 100 grams of heroin were found.
Another member of the organized criminal group was also detained. He is a resident of the Agjabedi district, Gummat Yusif Oglu Aliyev, born in 1975. He was the organizer of drug sales. During the search in his house, the law enforcers found and seized 1 tear gas cartridge, 5 tablets of psychotropic substance methadone and 3 tablets of Lyrics, 213 grams of heroin and 1 gram of opium.

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
