Demolition of Old Housing in Soviet Street Resumed
On January 30, the Executive Power of the Yasamal district held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Mayor's Office of Baku, dedicated to the next stage of the resettlement of the population from the territory of the former Soviet Street.
As Turan was told in the executive power of the area, it regards the demolition of about 200 apartments and houses, where 1,000 people live. The demolition regards houses, the owners of which signed the relevant documents on the payment of the due compensation.
The demolition area is vast, covering a few square kilometers. The demolition is conducted simultaneously on several fronts.
According to sources from the City Hall, the expansion of the streets leading from the city center (from the Azerbaijan Drama Theater) to the upper part is planned. In addition, it is planned to expand the avenue Narimanov (former Soviet Street) along its entire length.
At present, two issues remain the most painful - the amount of compensation and the housing provided for people with small apartments - up to 25 square meters.
In the first case, the payment of 1,500 manats per square meter is provided. Taking into account the devaluation, the people are clearly not happy about that. In the second case, a small area makes the amount of compensation also small, and the people cannot buy even a studio apartment. In the previous phase of demolition, 200 households with areas of 25 meters and less immediately got 2-room apartments, and it is possible that this practice will continue. -02B-
