Discontinued Advocacy of Khalid Bagirov
The Bar filed a submission to stop advocacy of Khalid Bagirov. Simultaneously, the Bar decided to suspend the advocacy of Bagirov before the court. Turan was told by the lawyer himself.
The reason for this decision was the performance of Bagirov in the Sheki Court of Appeal in the case of the leader of REAL Ilgar Mamedov.
“In my speech on the trial, I said that if there was justice in Azerbaijan, the court would not make such a decision and Rashid Huseynov, the judge would not work. That last sentence was the reason behind the decision of the Bar.”
Note that Khalid Bagirov is a well-known lawyer who led many "political" cases. In particular, he was one of the lawyers of Leyla Yunus, Hilal Mamedov, Ilgar Mamedov, activists of NIDA, the blogger Abdul Abilov, and others.
In 2011, the advocacy of Bagirov was suspended for one year, when he was accused of slandering the police chief of Baku. -03B-
