Elchin Khalilov sentenced to one year imprisonment
Trial in the case of former chief of the Research Center of the Defense Ministry Elchin Khalilov finished today in the Baku Serious Crimes Court. In April 2014, Khalilov was charged under Articles 308.2 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power) and 179.3.2 (embezzlement, that is theft of another's property entrusted to the guilty, in the large size) in respect of a preventive measure - arrest. In late December, he was released from custody pending investigation. Today the court sentenced him to one year imprisonment.
The violations of the law in the activities of the Research Center of the Ministry of Defense have been identified in the investigation conducted by the Military Prosecutor's Office. Khalilov also is known as an expert on earthquake prediction. Ever since 1989, he heads the International Scientific-Technical Complex "İNTERGEO-TETİS". -06D—

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
